Explore the woodland grounds of the historic Turton Tower
With a history dating back some 600 years, Turton Tower is a wonderful setting for a woodland walk not far from Blackburn and Darwen.
Although only guide dogs are allowed to enter the house itself, pooches are allowed off lead within the grounds, and you don't need to step inside to appreciate the history that runs through the place.
Parking is free of charge and there are dog waste bins within the peaceful woodland setting. The grounds are not huge, but you could still have a decent walk here, and if you want to venture further afield, you can carry on to the nearby Entwistle, Jumbles and Wayoh resevoirs.
An open-air café and picnic tables are available for enjoying some light refreshments, as well as a small shop open from noon on weekends, where you can pick up a treasure trail map for free.
Opening hours are seasonal, but the grounds are accessible year round.
