Independents galore at this inside street food market
If you want to help independent tradespeople, look no further than the Baltic Market. Set up by Independent Liverpool, a couple of guys who promote independent businesses in the city, this abandoned warehouse has helped redevelop the Baltic Triangle area. Formerly part of the successful dock business, this area was in such a decline that it was looked at as the first legal red light district in Liverpool. Thankfully, some independent businesses moved in and the rest, as they say, was history. Now a bustling and thriving section of Liverpool's growing economy, no day out in Liverpool is complete without a trip to the Baltic Market, and you can take your pooch!
Situated in the old Cains Brewery, there are new street market vendors every month (and the odd stalwart like the pizza and halloumi stands). Some of the vendors go on to have successful restaurants or even appear on the BBC's Million Pound Restaurant. There is also a bar situated in the middle and a DJ/live music at the weekend. This place is very busy, so go early if you have a pooch uneasy around large crowds. After 7pm on a Friday and Saturday, Baltic Market turns more into a nightclub so they suggest it wouldn't be advisable to bring your pooch then.
From time to time there are even pooch-based events, such as meet 'Santa Paws', and sometimes dog markets (that is where there is food for your pooch, not a place to buy them!).
