Siding Lane Nature Reserve

Overview

Siding Lane Nature Reserve is just on the outskirts of Rainford, near junction 3 of the M58 motorway. Not the biggest of walks, this is somewhere to go for a 30-45 minute wander.

A free car park brings you to the entrance, where you walk through a lovely woodland area. There is a fishing lake where you will regularly see fisherman and their tackle (we wouldn't advise letting your dog swim in there), and past this a public pathway that brings you out alongside a farmer's field. At the fork, take the left path and you find yourself alongside the railway (this is an active one so take care when crossing), or head straight on to keep alongside the field.

There are bins located at the entrance, and a large field amid the trees with picnic benches. Whilst the reserve is alongside a road, it seems to only serve the reserve and the few houses scattered along it, but do keep an eye out for any vehicles when dogs are off lead.

Relatively muddy in wet conditions, sensible footwear is advised, as is a towel for your pooch for the car!
